The disease is characterized by the egg production drop of laying hens and egg deformity.
 
1. Agent
EDS`76 of a type of virus Adenovirus is causative agent and existing in wild waterfowl, ducks, geese.
2. Epidemiology
The disease has been occurring from all over the world since the first occurrence been reported in 1976 in the Netherlands. There are three types transmission route.
① classcial form : egg transmission infection
② endemic form : from eggs to laying hens in GP center
③ sporadic form: spread through contaminated water or feces of ducks and waterfowl
3. Clinical Signs
Symptoms lead to the production of decolorized, soft shell and soft, no shell egg. As egg drop usually continuing for 4-10 weeks and the maximum egg production is decreased by 40%. Abnormal ovaries or oviduct atrophy symptoms by autopsy is sometimes observed but that is not the characteristic findings.

Inoculated the killed oil vaccine before the lay eggs start then prevented the infection during the lay period.
